Personally, I didn’t even realize this was a POSSIBILITY…until the last few years.

As Audre Lorde so eloquently articulates:

“…we are taught to separate the erotic demand from most vital areas of our lives other than sex.”

Growing up I was taught that being turned-on equated to something sexual (only).

As an adult working mostly in male-majority work environments this messaging was heavily reinforced.

I believe in part it’s because the same kind of pure generativity, aliveness & lit-up-ness that comes from what people mistakenly minimize into a small box called “sexuality” can be threatening. Or abused. Or taken advantage of.

But this is also our SOURCE.

For YEARS I was (often unknowingly) layering justifications, excuses & “what it takes to be successful / liked / accepted” on top of my own internal source of what Audre refers to “the erotic.”

And it’s taken me YEARS to peel away the layers.

>> decades of personal development
>> therapeutic medicine journeys
>> coaching & mentorship
>> circles of conscious women
>> healing with conscious men
>> building a relationship with my real "erotic"
>> my husband’s advocacy for my liberation

[And I can tell you that EVERYTHING changes when we do the work to find our turn on.]
